It’s true! It’s TheTwiddles.com ONE Year Blogiversary! & I am so excited to share this day with you all!!! The blogging/online world is so big that many can get overwhelmed. I’m not going to lie, I was super scared when I first bought my domain name (TheTwiddles.com) and registered with my hosting provider (Hostgator.com). I didn’t know what I was doing and what exactly I got myself into. All I knew is that I wanted to share things with the world & I needed some sort of creative outlet. I started with MaggieZam.com as my main website and pondered about what to do with it. It took me almost TWO years to get The Twiddles started! TWO YEARS, guys! All because I had FEAR… Of judgment, of criticism, of not doing things right, etc. But this past year changed all of that. This past year changed my way of thinking, it changed the way I saw the world, and it changed the way I saw MYSELF! Once I hit ‘Publish’ on my first DIY, I changed! & I grew to love it! There are lots of things that I learned within this first year, but these are a few key points that I feel were very important to me:
- Persistency & Taking action – Being persistent is important. Keeping my main goal in mind, everyday, and pushing through even if I didn’t receive what I was after. Even on my worst days, I had to find the time and make an effort to continue. It gets the job done!
- Creative thinking – There is beauty in everything. Everything has something we can learn from. Just keep your eyes AND mind wide open.
- Being open to comments/ideas – Both good and bad. Being open to criticism helps us grow. Especially if we take each comment & each moment as a learning experience.
- Partnerships & Collaborations – While it is nice that I work alone on my own ideas and website, I have to be honest and say that it is also nice to have someone to partner up & collaborate with every now and then. It helps my creative thinking expand to newer and different levels that I would have never thought of.
AND I got to meet a lot of new & friendly people in the process! :) With that said, friends, I have teamed up with some of the fabulous ladies I have met along the way. They all were very kind and generous enough to share this day with me by helping me create this amazing Valentine’s Day idea post. Each of these ladies have inspired me in one way or another throughout my blogging journey and I really want you guys to see how amazing each one of them really are!
Stephanie Chavez from Spanglish Spoon:
Besides being the very first blogger follower I had on Instagram, this lady is amazing! She lives in sunny California (lucky!) and loves to keep her culture alive through her cooking & experiences. She shares delicious recipes and fun activities on her blog keeping her Spanglish roots in mind. I really love people who do things to keep their culture alive in their families lives. ESPECIALLY when they share yummy food recipes that bring back soooo many memories, like this Banana licuado! She was kind enough to share a super yummy Valentine’s Dessert with us. These ladies right here, pure sweethearts! & Fellow Texans! I met these wonderful ladies via Instagram when they were hosting their very first giveaway & I was the lucky winner! But little did I know that that was going to be the start of a lovely friendship. We even collaborated on a Holiday Giveaway this past Christmas. They share stories about their lives and adventures with their kiddos on their blog & show the importance of keeping their culture alive within their families. They also share fun projects, recipes, and very modern outfit inspirations. I’m in love with little Karo & Levi! They are the most cutest fashionable kids I ever did see! Candice Pagan from Candi Cole’s Corner:
I have the honor of knowing Candice personally & Candice is definitely one of the kindest people I know! I have had the honor to photograph her daughter, Gabby, for halloween and her first and second birthday parties that she put together. The love that she has for her daughter is beautiful and inspiring! Watching them interact during our photography sessions has truly been an honor and will forever be one of my favorite session memories. She also has an AMAZING eye at putting together parties and gift ideas. She was graciously kind enough to share a cute Valentine gift anyone can create to giveaway this Valentine’s Day. I have learned so much within this past year and I am so grateful for this creative outlet that I call The Twiddles. It has truly been a life changing experience to share my thoughts, crafts, and life online with you all. Thank you guys so much for not only following along on my craziness but for teaching me and helping me realize that being yourself is important! It doesn’t matter if what I write is not really perfect or if I have billion run on sentences… What truly matters is that we are sharing our lives with each other and trying to make a small contribution to the huge and super creative online community that is out there! Sending all of you BIG hugs and kisses from North Carolina!
Have a super great weekend!
